Everyday Leaders
Using a structured, 8-part skill-building program, we train community members, leaders, and organizers to strengthen collaboration and equity in their leadership, decision-making, and community engagement practices.
Everyday Leaders is an 8-session, 16-hour training program, complemented by 4-6 hours of independent learning. Through interactive workshops, real-world applications, and guided reflections, participants develop the tools needed to engage communities, lead collectively, and center equity in their work.
Everyday Leaders is designed to build equity-focused, collective leadership skills through a structured learning experience, covering topics such as:
- Collective Leadership: Exploring shared power, decision-making, and the values of interdependence in leadership.
- Systems Thinking: Understanding systemic inequities and how leaders can foster more just and inclusive communities.
- Equitable Decision-Making & Accountability: Practicing fair and transparent leadership approaches that prioritize those most impacted.
- Community Engagement & Coalition Building: Learning effective organizing strategies to build trust, transparency, and shared responsibility.
- Using Data for Social Change: Understanding how data can clarify community concerns and inform action planning.
- Self- & Community Care for Leaders: Developing sustainable leadership practices that prioritize well-being and resilience
This initiative creates a space of collective learning and co-creation in which a multiracial and intergenerational cohort can reimagine authentic relationships and build on community assets together.
The Everyday Leaders curriculum includes affinity-group work, independent reflection, interactive and experiential learning that complements “classroom” instruction.
We launched our inaugural cohort in Spring 2024 in Hartford, Connecticut. Based on this success, we will continue to deliver this program to new cohorts in 2025.
